New breakthroughs is made in the independent research and development of rail vehicle couplings by TMT

Recently, the Fiber coupling independently developed by TMT has been successfully loaded on the serialized China standard subway train (Nanjing Puzhen 80B), meaning a key step in the industrialization application of this kind of coupling in the field of rail transit.

Since 2020, the coupling has successfully passed CRRC technical scheme review, loading review and Puzhen FAI review. With its original design scheme and excellent performance indicators, it has been highly recognized by CRRC and Puzhen audit experts. The coupling is of high technical content and difficult to develop. It can stably transfer torque under high speed rotation, realize large displacement and angle compensation, and has good insulation performance. It integrates fiber winding forming technology, vulcanization forming technology and dynamic balance technology. Compared with the traditional drum tooth coupling, the Fiber coupling independently developed by TMT has the characteristics of light weight and free maintenance, which completely solves the disease of oil leakage and wins the favor of the end customers with the optimal life-cycle cost.

The successful development of this standard subway coupling project has laid a solid technical foundation for the next step in the development of the local car market. During the same period, the six-link coupling independently developed by the company has also been successfully loaded on the United Arab Emirates locomotive of Sifang Shares, indicating that TMT presents a multi-way parallel situation in the rail vehicle coupling market and realizes a new growth point.

The 91m onshore wind turbine blade independently developed by TMT is released successfully

We pass rapidly on into the March, and the flowers come out in warm spring.

On March 1st, TMT-91A wind turbine blade of TMT isreleased in Meng xi factory of Erdos, with a blade length of 91 meters. This is the first 3.2m pitch diameter high-power 90 meters class onshore wind turbine blade independently developed by TMT.

In order to  meet the market demandbetter, the R&D team of TMT blade has made many innovations and tackled key problems in the design process. TMT-91A wind turbine blade aerodynamic shape adopts a new airfoil family and sweepback design, which effectively reduces blade load and improves power generation. In the structural design, a new structure with double sparcaps and large & small shearwebs is adopted. The main sparcap adopts glass fiber pultrusion plate technology to optimize the layout of blade materials and greatly reduce the weight of blades. At the same time, the newly developed domestic integrated lightning protection system is also applied to this blade to improve lightning protection reliability and production efficiency. In the process of blade development, TMT worked closely with the main manufacturer and iteratively optimized, further realizing the blade load reduction and weight reduction. This blade can match 5.xMW-6.xMW wind turbine and has excellent power generation performance, diverse application scenarios and broad market prospects.

TMT builds the first systematic vibration and noise reduction project on over-track building in China

Recently, the systematic vibration and noise reduction project of TMT on the over-track building has successfully applied for several patents and won the first prize of Jiangsu Underground Space Association in 2021. It marks that TMT has made a further breakthrough in the development of the superstructure.

From Metro Line 1 and line 2 opened eight years ago to Metro Line 3 opened in 2020, it can be said that Wuxi Metro is gradually getting rid of the "single era" and moving towards the "era of scale". In December 2021, Wuxi Metro Line 4 phase I project was put into operation. After that, in addition to red, green and blue, a section of purple has been added to the Wuxi subway route map.

With the operation of line 4, the mileage of Wuxi rail transit has exceeded 110 kilometers, marking the formal formation of the network operation pattern of Wuxi urban rail transit. The significance behind Wuxi Metro Line 4 is far more than adding an underground line from north to south.

"Japanese OEMs expect presence and quick action"

BOGE Rubber & Plastics has been running an office in Yokohama since 2016. With the local presence in Japan, a more customer-oriented service can be provided on the spot. In recent years, BOGE has been increasingly awarded development and series orders from Japanese vehicle manufacturers and will continue to expand its business with Japanese OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers). Currently, BOGE has been nominated by Suzuki as a potential supplier for the localization of chassis projects in Europe and will therefore be considered for future awards in Europe. This is the reward for the intensive and close cooperation between the development department in Damme and the sales team in Japan. We asked Naoki Matsuda, Head of the BOGE Rubber & Plastics Japan K.K. division, about the special features of the cooperation with Japanese automotive manufacturers:How do you see BOGE's current position with the Japanese automotive manufacturers?Naoki Matsuda: While BOGE is listed as a top supplier in the field of NVH and lightweight design among European OEMs, this is not yet the case to a greater extent among Japanese OEMs. In addition to Sumitomo Riko, there are many smaller Japanese suppliers, and each Japanese OEM has its preferred Japanese suppliers with whom it works on a long-term basis. In many cases, there is also a financial relationship with the preferred supplier. Despite this competitive situation, it is undeniable that the level of awareness of the BOGE brand has increased since the office opening in Yokohama in 2016, and the business potential with Japanese OEMs has increased accordingly. What are the most important expectations of a Japanese OEM from its suppliers?Naoki Matsuda: The key expectation is price. In my view, combining a proposal for a performance improvement or a weight reduction right away with a price increase is not well received by Japanese OEMs. In most cases, the supplier who offers the most competitive price while meeting the technical requirements will get the order.Which aspects must a supplier take into account in order to communicate and negotiate successfully with an OEM from Japan?Naoki Matsuda: The biggest obstacle when communicating and negotiating with Japanese OEMs is language. A presentation in English is accepted, but I often feel that it is frequently not fully understood. Therefore, it is necessary to provide an appropriate translation or explanation in Japanese to ensure that everything is understood. Sending presentation materials in advance of a meeting is also effective in deepening understanding of the content and allowing for more active discussion in a meeting. In addition, the availability of a contact person and response time, i.e., quick action, are also very important to complete a project on time, especially in the product development stage.

Three Questions to CEO Dr. Torsten Bremer

Since 1 September 2014, the Chinese company TMT has been the owner of BOGE Rubber & Plastics. The first regular general assemblies at the Damme, Simmern and Bonn locations this year and also various discussions with employees have shown that employees often have similar questions. CEO Dr. Torsten Bremer gives answers to three selected questions.

Have the promises made by TMT been kept when taking over the company in 2014?

Dr. Torsten Bremer: Job security was complied with as well as the investment commitments. In fact, the latter have even been more than fulfilled, among other things in order to significantly expand global capacity. Examples include China, Mexico, Germany and Slovakia. We, the management, have never doubted that right from the start. The growth is also reflected in the number of employees: The BOGE Rubber & Plastics Group had approximately 4,300 employees at the end of the past financial year (2017) - in 2014 around 3,500 people were employed by the group.
