DELKOR Base Plates for Sydney Metro

On May 5th, Delkor Rail signed a 7 Million AUD contract with Sydney Metro Northwest to supply high and medium attenuation rail fastening systems. These base plates will be applied to significantly reduce rail borne noise and vibration on the new build northwest section of the Sydney Metro.

Sydney Metro Northwest will be the first fully-automated metro rail system in Australia and will open to customers in the first half of 2019. Trains will operate every four minutes at peak times with at least 15 trains per hour. The 36km project includes eight new railway stations and construction of 15 km twin tunnels from Bella Vista to Epping, which will be Australia’s longest rail tunnels. This project will form the basis of future expansion of the metro network in Sydney for years to come.

Delkor was selected amongst strong competition from major railway component suppliers Vossloh and Pandrol.
